ERA JUSTIN REALTORS SEND YOUNGSTERS TO MDA SUMMER CAMP
Since 1955, MDA has built bridges and knocked down barriers for youngsters with neuromuscular diseases by providing an unforgettable week at MDA summer camp, largely in part this summer through the efforts of the ERA Justin Realty teammates who are pictured, Ilene Harpuder, Soila Columbie, Carol Calamari, Cathy Vick, Fara Espandi, June Incorvaia with granddaughter Leah Welch and Broker, Ron Darby, all who are invited to attend the MDA VIP Summer Camp day to be with the kids.
Ron Darby said, “It has been the focus of our entire staff of agents to raise tax deductible donations to send as many children to MDA summer camp as possible and it all came together at the MDA Lock-up at the Park and Orchard Restaurant, East Rutherford. We reached out to all of the business firms and individuals we transact business with throughout the year to send in their donations large and small. Donations were pooled in an effort to send children to the tri-state MDA summer camp for a week. In the past, we had focused on raising funds for MDA research, but we now focus to give these children an immediate positive experience. Due to the untiring efforts of our staff and those who donated, the MDA youngsters will enjoy a week in the country in a structured environment to fit their abilities. The fundraising event included our New Jersey MDA Goodwill Ambassador, Madison Lemke, age 11, who attended with her mother, Lori Lemke.
Special thanks also to the Rutherford Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department who arranged transportation for those willing to be locked up until they raised their MDA bail. Of course, it was all in fun. ERA Justin Realty raised over $7,000.00 for this single event. Our ERA Justin Realty team of over 35 Realtors never stopped until our summer goal for our MDA youngsters was met. We are now continuing to exceed our goal."
Each year MDA supports nearly 90 summer camps across the country. Whether in Alaska or Hawaii, in California or New Jersey, at MDA camp barriers simply don’t exist. A child with a disability can just be a child among friends. MDA camp is a magical place offering a wide range of activities specially designed for young people who have limited mobility or use wheelchairs. MDA camp programs, although structured, are conducted in a relaxed atmosphere that gives campers an unmatched opportunity to develop lifelong friendships, share interests and build self-confidence. Activities range from outdoor sports such as swimming, boating, baseball and horseback riding to less physically demanding programs like arts and crafts and talent shows. Thousands of youngsters attend MDA camp each year at no cost to their families. ERA Justin Realty Participates In MDA “Camp Magic” For Area Children
Each year team members at ERA Justin Realty work through spring and summer preparing and soliciting donations for the MDA Summer Camp for kids program. They then attend the camp to be with the kids and participate in the activities and finalize their annual fundraising activities at the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon.
Summer 2009 is a bit different. Due to overriding concern for the health and safety of Jerry’s Kids, the MDA National office has canceled the remainder of its annual summer camp program because of the H1N1 virus. The decision to cancel MDA’s remaining summer camp sessions was unprecedented in the history of the Association. It was a necessary preventative measure, made in the best interest of all participants to ensure their health and safety.
ERA Justin Realty in conjunction with MDA has taken it to the next level this year. The MDA staff will personally be delivering some “camp magic” in the form of gifts to each summer camp kid to their homes during August to include one of the stuffed animals obtained through Rosemarie Zembryski’s donation outreach to Russ Manufacturing who donated hundreds of stuffed animals for the kids.
Rosemarie stated, “It’s unfortunate that MDA had to cancel summer camp this year, but the kids health is the priority. So, the next best step was for a bit of “camp magic” to come to the kids. The MDA Summer Camp is a week-long program that is free to all who participate. It is a week during which MD kids get to be kids. It’s a week when their parents, often the only caregivers for their child, get to take a well-deserved break. It’s also a time when lasting friendships are formed – friendships between campers, counselors, the MDA staff and our teammates from ERA Justin Realty.”
For those who would like to donate for the kids, a tax deductible check can be made payable to MDA and sent to the ERA Justin offices. All members of the ERA Justin MDA team can be reached at their Rutherford office at 118 Jackson Avenue. By office phone (201) 939-7500, (201) 438-0588 or (201) 438-SOLD. Also view their MDA and real estate activities at their website at www.ERAJustin.com.”

BUSINESSES & HOMEOWNERS JOIN THE MDA SUMMER CAMP FOR KIDS CAUSE
For the last 3 years, ERA Justin Realty, in conjunction with the Junior Woman's Club of Rutherford, has sponsored a Cashola to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy.
ERA Real Estate raises money every year for Muscular Dystrophy. Their team of agents reaches out to vendors, clients, and the community for support. They donate their time and personally fund the MDA Summer Camp for Kids effort.
One recent successful fundraiser was the Baja Fresh Cinco de Mayo Cashola at their East Rutherford location. The Rutherford Junior Woman’s Club in this endeavor supports Carol Calamari and Kristen Davis, both full time agents with ERA Justin Realty. They chose a day in May and distributed fliers that customers brought with them to the Baja Fresh restaurant. Management donated 15% of their proceeds to MDA up to $1000. Once they reached $1000, the donation graduated to 20%. A win-win for all, the diners and community was happy to have a good meal for a great cause!
Many individuals suffer from Muscular Dystrophy. Stephen Way is a high school student in Rutherford. He lends his name and picture to the flier advertising this event, and gets much credit for the high attendance. Stephen is well known and well loved throughout our area towns. His family is also involved in many community activities, and friends were happy to dine out to support Stephen’s MDA cause.
Kristen Davis says "This is a fun fundraiser for us, because the food is great and it's great seeing friends get together to help Stephen and our NJ MDA kids in this MDA cause." On May 14, 2008, we raised almost $400 via the Baja Fresh Cashola, which is added to other contributions received via local businesses, business associates, friends and family plus on-line campaigns. If you wish to donate and have missed our fundraiser, please visit our website at http://www.MDACamp.com.
Carol Calamari added, “ERA Justin has another fundraiser approaching and it’s the Southern Living at Home party on June 5th at 7:30 PM. For those interested in attending, please contact Kristen Davis or Carol Calamari at ERA Justin Realty at 201 939-7500 . In September our total MDA check is presented at the Muscular Dystrophy Association Jerry Lewis Telethon...and then we begin planning for next year.”

ERA JUSTIN FUNDRAISER FOR MDA CAMP FOR KIDS
& TELETHON PRESENTATION |
|
Orlando: The setting for the ERA Muscular Dystrophy 2005 effort was launched at Orlando, Florida. Jennifer Darby met with Billy Gilman, MDA National Youth Chairman as plans were reviewed for ERA New Jersey offices and ERA Justin Realty. Billy Gilman, standing in for Jerry Lewis, spearheads the efforts of thousands of teen-agers and young adults who help MDA’s lifesaving mission.
Jennifer stated, “Going forward, ERA Justin Realty MDA coordinator Debra Campisano and our teams of sales agents focused and succeeded in an outstanding fundraising effort in sending area MDA children to summer camp. It culminated on the recent MDA Labor Day Telethon where Debra and Kristen Davis presented a combined check from our firm and the ERA Real Estate Brokers of New Jersey of over $25,000, used specifically for the kids summer camp program.”
Debra and Kristen continued, “Our ERA Justin teammates spent time at summer camp with the kids. At that moment, one can see how rewarding it is to participate. We spent the day working with the kids in their arts and crafts projects, viewed their games and activities and enjoyed their varied conversations. Each year MDA supports some 90 summer camps across the country. Thousands of youngsters attend MDA camp each year at no cost to their families.”
For their efforts, ERA Justin Realty was recently inducted into the President’s Club of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Jennifer concluded “We are requesting all of our area residents who would like to become involved in MDA fundraising for our Summer Camp 2006 program to reach us at our offices. We are anxious to have as much help as possible |

ERA JUSTIN REALTY AGENTS SEND YOUNGSTERS TO MDA SUMMER CAMP
Since 1955, MDA has built bridges and knocked down barriers for youngsters with neuromuscular diseases by providing an unforgettable week at MDA summer camp, largely in part this summer through the efforts of four ERA Justin Realty MDA fundraising teams and ERA Justin Realty teammate, Debra Campisano who was responsible for raising the highest donations for Jerry’s kids, a few dollars at a time. During Debra’s free time from her real estate responsibilities, she sponsored fundraising activities at the Classic Athletic Club, Lyndhurst where she is also active as the group fitness director.
Ron Darby, ERA Justin Realty Broker and Co-owner said, “It has been the focus of our entire staff of agents and Debra to raise tax deductible donations to send as many children to MDA summer camp as possible. We reached out to all of the business firms and individuals we transact business with throughout the year to send in their donations large and small. Donations were pooled in an effort to send children to a New Jersey MDA summer camp for a week. In the past, we had focused on raising funds for MDA research, but this year we wanted to help give these children an immediate positive experience. Due to the untiring efforts of our staff and those who donated, twelve MDA youngsters will be enjoying a week in the country. A special thanks goes to the Classic Athletic Club staff and members for their generosity in this great MDA effort and very special thanks to Steven Way, the Northern New Jersey Goodwill Ambassador for MDA, who joined the activities and spoke on the MDA summer camp program and the opportunities available to area MDA children. Never-ending thanks also to the ERA Justin Realty teammates who never stopped until our summer goal to send twelve MDA youngsters was achieved.”
The ERA Justin Realty team will be visiting the kids at camp on a special visiting day set aside in August.
Debra added, “Each year MDA supports some 90 summer camps across the country. Whether in Alaska or Hawaii, in California or New Jersey, at MDA camp barriers simply don’t exist. A child with a disability can just be a child among friends. MDA camp is a magical place offering a wide range of activities specially designed for young people who have limited mobility or use wheelchairs. Activities range from outdoor sports such as swimming, boating, baseball and horseback riding to less physically demanding programs like arts and crafts and talent shows. Thousands of youngsters attend MDA camp each year at no cost to their families.”
If you’re 16 or older, you’re invited to apply to join the MDA team as a camp volunteer. At most MDA camps, volunteer counselors work one-on-one with campers around the clock, providing the care, close supervision and attention children with neuromuscular diseases need. Counselors push wheelchairs, lift and carry youngsters, and even "bunk down" near their campers. But above all, they become a youngster’s friend for a week and sometimes for a lifetime.
By becoming an MDA summer camp sponsor you can provide a local youngster with neuromuscular disease with many special summer memories. The cost of sending one child to MDA camp for one week is $600.
As a sponsor, you will be invited to visit the local MDA camp during our special sponsor VIP Day. You’ll see the joy that your participation in this program creates. Your involvement will also be saluted on the local broadcast of the MDA Labor Day Telethon.
Become a sponsor! Help youngsters with neuromuscular diseases in your community experience a week of fun and friendship they’ll never forget.
At MDA camp there’s always a need for volunteer counselors, medical staff, water safety instructors and activity coordinators.
Darby concluded, “Be a volunteer or a sponsor by sending your tax deductible check made payable to MDA and mail it to MDA c/o ERA Justin Realty Co., 118 Jackson Avenue, Rutherford, New Jersey 07070. Still time for us all to send a few more kids to camp this summer. If you have questions on this great program for the kids, call us at (201) 939-7500 .” |

ERA Justin Realty Participates in Fundraising Event for Muscular Dystrophy
Rain and Cold Weather Not Deterring ERA Fundraising for MDA. Though it was a cold and rainy Saturday on May 17, the inclement weather did not deter ERA agents, friends and families who had committed their time to participating in the ERA/Muscular Dystrophy Association Great Walk held in Piscataway's Johnson Park. The ERA/MDA Great Walk, a 3-mile walk through Johnson Park, in which twelve ERA offices joined and raised funds to help children and adults with neuromuscular diseases, was jointly sponsored by ERA Justin Realty with Diana Bulger as Team Captain for the event. Over 60 people participated in the Great Walk, including 12 year old Stephen Way, the Northern New Jersey Goodwill Ambassador for MDA, and his parents. Stephen was diagnosed with congenital muscular dystrophy at the age of 7, and today is an "A" student in the Rutherford school system's gifted and talented program. "Having Stephen speak to our group and participate in the Great Walk with us was the highlight of the event. He made us aware of why we were there for such a worthwhile cause," said Diana Bulger. Participating in the walk from ERA Justin Realty was Glenn Elliot, Diana Bulger, Jack Cheung, Debra Capisano and June Incorvaia. Other teammates from ERA Justin Realty worked in the background in raising funds for the event. In addition to the Great Walk, ERA offices throughout New Jersey planned fundraising activities including a Day at the Races held at Freehold Raceway, yard sales, customer appreciation dinner dances, as well as silent auctions. Ron Darby, ERA Justin Realty Broker Co-owner stated, "For ERA Brokers, their commitment to raising funds for MDA is strong and personal. Funds collected also help send children with muscular dystrophy to a week-long MDA summer camp." "When all of the donations for MDA from the ERA Brokers of New Jersey have been turned in, we expect to raise close to $10,000 from our events," added Mr. Darby. For over twenty-five years, ERA has been the real estate industry's exclusive corporate sponsor for MDA, having raised nearly $30 million to help MDA conduct groundbreaking medical research and provide much-needed services for more than 1 million Americans affected by muscular dystrophy." Ms. Bulger concluded, "It’s never too late to join us in our MDA effort. Simply write your donation check to MDA and send it along to either of our two Rutherford offices at 118 Jackson Avenue or 57 Park Avenue. Call us at (201) 939-7500 , (201) 438-0588 or (201) 933-SELL or look us up on our website at www.erajustin.com for more MDA information.
