Our MDA Efforts

East Rutherford's Baja Fresh counterman Mario Suarez and hostess Patricia  Santacruz join ERA Justin Realty's MDA coordinators Carol Calamari, Kristen Davis and Stephen Way for MDA's Summer Camp For Kids successful fundraiser.  June 5th is an opportunity for those who would like to attend their next fundraising event, a Southern Living at home party.  All are invited to attend.

BUSINESSES & HOMEOWNERS JOIN THE MDA SUMMER CAMP FOR KIDS CAUSE

For the last 3 years, ERA Justin Realty, in conjunction with the Junior Woman's Club of Rutherford, has sponsored a Cashola to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy.

ERA Real Estate raises money every year for Muscular Dystrophy.  Their team of agents reaches out to vendors, clients, and the community for support.  They donate their time and personally fund the MDA Summer Camp for Kids effort.

One recent successful fundraiser was the Baja Fresh Cinco de Mayo Cashola at their East Rutherford location.  The Rutherford Junior Woman’s Club in this endeavor supports Carol Calamari and Kristen Davis, both full time agents with ERA Justin Realty.  They chose a day in May and distributed fliers that customers brought with them to the Baja Fresh restaurant.  Management donated 15% of their proceeds to MDA up to $1000.  Once they reached $1000, the donation graduated to 20%.  A win-win for all, the diners and community was happy to have a good meal for a great cause!

Many individuals suffer from Muscular Dystrophy.  Stephen Way is a high school student in Rutherford.  He lends his name and picture to the flier advertising this event, and gets much credit for the high attendance.  Stephen is well known and well loved throughout our area towns.  His family is also involved in many community activities, and friends were happy to dine out to support Stephen’s MDA cause.

Kristen Davis says "This is a fun fundraiser for us, because the food is great and it's great seeing friends get together to help Stephen and our NJ MDA kids in this MDA cause."  On May 14, 2008, we raised almost $400 via the Baja Fresh Cashola, which is added to other contributions received via local businesses, business associates, friends and family plus on-line campaigns.  If you wish to donate and have missed our fundraiser, please visit our website at http://www.MDACamp.com

Carol Calamari added, “ERA Justin has another fundraiser approaching and it’s the Southern Living at Home party on June 5th at 7:30 PM.  For those interested in attending, please contact Kristen Davis or Carol Calamari at ERA Justin Realty at 201 939-7500.   In September our total MDA check is presented at the Muscular Dystrophy Association Jerry Lewis Telethon...and then we begin planning for next year.”

The ERA Justin Realty Muscular Dystrophy fundraising team for 2008 received framed artwork from one of the MDA summer camp for kids for their efforts.  Standing, left to right, Carol Darby, Rose Solak, Grace Tirrito, Karen Kelly, John Boguszewski, Mary Iannaccone, Glenn Elliot, June Incorvaia, Aldolf Pastorek, Terry Mertens, Ed Bulger, Peggy McLaughlin, Ilene Harpuder, Rose Zembryski, Michelle Korosy and Jennifer Darby.  Seated: Kristen Davis, Alene Vitale, Carol Calamari, Cathy Vick, Fara Espandi and Haleh Hamzeh.

ERA JUSTIN REALTY AGENTS SEND YOUNGSTERS
TO MDA SUMMER CAMP

Since 1955, MDA has built bridges and knocked down barriers for youngsters with neuromuscular diseases by providing an unforgettable week at MDA summer camp, largely in part this summer through the efforts of four ERA Justin Realty MDA fundraising teams and ERA Justin Realty teammate, Debra Campisano who was responsible for raising the highest donations for Jerry’s kids, a few dollars at a time.  During Debra’s free time from her real estate responsibilities, she sponsored fundraising activities at the Classic Athletic Club, Lyndhurst where she is also active as the group fitness director.

Ron Darby, ERA Justin Realty Broker and Co-owner said, “It has been the focus of our entire staff of agents and Debra to raise tax deductible donations to send as many children to MDA summer camp as possible.  We reached out to all of the business firms and individuals we transact business with throughout the year to send in their donations large and small.  Donations were pooled in an effort to send children to a New Jersey MDA summer camp for a week.  In the past, we had focused on raising funds for MDA research, but this year we wanted to help give these children an immediate positive experience.  Due to the untiring efforts of our staff and those who donated, twelve MDA youngsters will be enjoying a week in the country.  A special thanks goes to the Classic Athletic Club staff and members for their generosity in this great MDA effort and very special thanks to Steven Way, the Northern New Jersey Goodwill Ambassador for MDA, who joined the activities and spoke on the MDA summer camp program and the opportunities available to area MDA children.  Never-ending thanks also to the ERA Justin Realty teammates who never stopped until our summer goal to send twelve MDA youngsters was achieved.”

The ERA Justin Realty team will be visiting the kids at camp on a special visiting day set aside in August.

ERA Justin Realty Participates in Fundraising Event for Muscular Dystrophy

Rain and Cold Weather Not Deterring ERA Fundraising for MDA. Though it was a cold and rainy Saturday on May 17, the inclement weather did not deter ERA agents, friends and families who had committed their time to participating in the ERA/Muscular Dystrophy Association Great Walk held in Piscataway's Johnson Park. The ERA/MDA Great Walk, a 3-mile walk through Johnson Park, in which twelve ERA offices joined and raised funds to help children and adults with neuromuscular diseases, was jointly sponsored by ERA Justin Realty with Diana Bulger as Team Captain for the event. Over 60 people participated in the Great Walk, including 12 year old Stephen Way, the Northern New Jersey Goodwill Ambassador for MDA, and his parents. Stephen was diagnosed with congenital muscular dystrophy at the age of 7, and today is an "A" student in the Rutherford school system's gifted and talented program. "Having Stephen speak to our group and participate in the Great Walk with us was the highlight of the event. He made us aware of why we were there for such a worthwhile cause," said Diana Bulger. Participating in the walk from ERA Justin Realty was Glenn Elliot, Diana Bulger, Jack Cheung, Debra Capisano and June Incorvaia. Other teammates from ERA Justin Realty worked in the background in raising funds for the event. In addition to the Great Walk, ERA offices throughout New Jersey planned fundraising activities including a Day at the Races held at Freehold Raceway, yard sales, customer appreciation dinner dances, as well as silent auctions. Ron Darby, ERA Justin Realty Broker Co-owner stated, "For ERA Brokers, their commitment to raising funds for MDA is strong and personal. Funds collected also help send children with muscular dystrophy to a week-long MDA summer camp."
"When all of the donations for MDA from the ERA Brokers of New Jersey have been turned in, we expect to raise close to $10,000 from our events," added Mr. Darby. For over twenty-five years, ERA has been the real estate industry's exclusive corporate sponsor for MDA, having raised nearly $30 million to help MDA conduct groundbreaking medical research and provide much-needed services for more than 1 million Americans affected by muscular dystrophy." Ms. Bulger concluded, "It’s never too late to join us in our MDA effort. Simply write your donation check to MDA and send it along to either of our two Rutherford offices at 118 Jackson Avenue or 57 Park Avenue. Call us at (201) 939-7500, (201) 438-0588 or (201) 933-SELL or look us up on our website at www.erajustin.com for more MDA information.

Rutherford -- Jerry Lewis and the Muscular Dystrophy Association are constantly on the minds of the ERA Justin Realty agents. Each year the firm takes part  in coordinating with other ERA real estate firms throughout New Jersey in raising funds which are presented during each Labor Day telethon to Jerry Lewis.

Jennifer Darby, MDA teamleader for ERA Justin Realty with her agent participants and other ERA offices raised over $15,000.00 in the MDA GREAT WALK 2000 recently, where ERA agents walked for donations.

Darby stated, "We are now making plans for our next event for 2001.  We encourage and can use all of the help and will be grateful to all area friends, residents and clients who would like to join us for a satisfying day as well as some fun and laughs as we raise money for this great MDA effort."
